Father’s Day

I feel like sharing a story with all of you. Kids can be so cruel!

When I was in Primary School, it was a ritual to make father’s day cards. Unfortunately, there was a boy in my class whose father committed suicide when he was a baby. So, for this exercise, he made a card for his mother instead.

Other little boys were teasing him about not having a father. He was on the verge of tears. Instead of sitting back, I stood up for him by making it clear that he will always have a Father in his life.  A couple of years later, some kids were calling me names. This time around, he stood up of for me.

It comes to show that such a little incident in Primary school goes a long way. Today, he is a very successful man with a bright future ahead. He did not burry his head in the shadows, BUT lifted his chin and faced a brighter and stronger light of opportunity.
