In my mind I drew a parallel between unicorns and rhinos. I
tried to figure out why rhino horns are so valuable and why people will risk an
entire species to lay their hands on it. Of course the obvious answer is money;
although I tried my hardest to create a magical story to ease the painful
reality. Here goes...
Once upon a time, unicorns were only found within the green villages
of Europe. They strolled down rainbows, ate the crispiest grass and drank from the
freshest springs. Too much too soon left the fields bare and the springs dry.
With their feathery wings, they flew all the way to Africa.

Here they ate the juiciest grass they have ever tasted and regularly
went down to drink at the waterhole next to the Amarula tree. Once again,
paradise dried up. Without noticing, the unicorns grew fat and their skin
became wrinkly. Their feathery wings turned to ashes. Also, no sunscreen was
applied during their stay in Africa.
One thing that remained the same was their horn; a piece which
made them mythical and magical in the first place. Soon people from near and
far came to realise the power of their most valuable possession. The news
spread like wild fire throughout the land. Like paradise turned to dust, these
creatures could return to mythical creatures from the past...
